What came first—the hat or the insecurity?

 

What started as a way to support my wonderful friend in launching her new business, Rewind Aesthetics, took an unexpected turn—it revealed something I didn’t even realize I’d been hiding.

 

I’ve always loved a good baseball cap. It keeps the sun out of my eyes on runs, negates my need to do my hair at my kids’ games, and adds a dash of sporty style to any outfit. But the older I got, the more I noticed those hats had also begun to act as a security blanket. I was feeling more aware of my laugh lines, and my forehead wrinkles. they had started to bother me more than I liked to admit. I am all for aging gracefully and I certainly am not someone that prioritizes "the packaging". I would never look at another woman and think "oh man, look at those wrinkles".... but that didn't mean that I didn't have a desire to look and feel my best. 

 

So when my friend invited me to come try Xeomin  (similar to botox), and one of the treatments offered at her new business, I said yes to support her—but I walked away realizing I had been saying yes to me, too.

 

It wasn’t just about softening wrinkles. It was about stepping out from behind the hat. About being honest with myself. About saying, “Hey, it’s okay to want to feel good in your skin.” And also—about challenging the quiet shame that still seems to linger when women talk openly about getting treatments like this.

 

We’ll share our workouts, our nutrition, our favorite dry shampoos—but when it comes to injectables, we often go silent. Why? Taking care of ourselves, inside and out, should be something we’re allowed to talk about without judgment. It doesn’t make you fake or vain. It just makes you a woman doing her best to feel like herself again.

 

That’s what I found at Rewind Aesthetics—a safe, welcoming space where questions are met with kindness, and the goal isn’t perfection but confidence.
